Gum Disease and Mental Function


Recent study conduction by researchers from US found out a
direct link of gum disease and worsening of mental function.  Extensive gum disease with inflammation to
different organ systems can have harmful effects on brain function.

It was found that elderly people with gum disease are more
prone to develop Alzheimer’s disease, as well as cognitive impairment.  To investigate this further, about 5000
individuals whose ages were ranging from 20-59 who performed two cognitive functions.

Gum Disease and Higher Chances of Cancer


According to a new research by the Imperial College of
London, gum diseases can lead to a higher chance of cancer.  The most common cancers that are linked to
gum disease includes pancreatic, lung, kidneys, as well as blood cancers.

The basic link joining the gum disease and cancers is
because of the weakened immune system.  This
fact was outlined by going through the medical records of about 50,000
individuals, which strengthened the fact mentioned above.
