Tips To Make Weight Loss Easier
Carry a notebook and a pen.
Write EVERYTHING you eat in the notebook. Every time you taste something, or if you finish your child’s dinner, write it down. Don’t let yourself slide on this one. Keep track of every little thing, so that you can take an honest look at what you are eating.
What are you feeling?
Every time you start to eat or drink, ask yourself: What am I feeling? Why am I eating? Why am I eating this? Am I hungry, tired, bored, stressed, lonely? Also write how you feel about what you are eating, how you feel before and after you have eaten. They don’t have to be long paragraphs just a word or two will really help you become aware of how much you are eating and why. Then you can begin to address those issues. You can choose to do other things that will directly address the issues that you are having and not stuff those emotions by eating
You have to eat.
Fewer calories does not mean that you will lose weight. We are learning that our bodies go into starvation mode when we restrict calories, so eat. Another reason is that your body burns more calories while it is digesting than at any other time. Lastly, if you don’t eat for long periods of time, when you do eat you might eat to much. This will leave you feeling physically and emotionally low, and raise your risk for quitting. 6 Small meals is ideal.
Don’t totally deny yourself.
Sometimes, when we tell ourselves that we cant have something, we become obsessed with it. So if you are addicted to chocolate, allow yourself to have 1 wonderful chocolate. Make it a time to relax and focus on the food that you are eating. Notice your experience as you eat, notice the texture and the taste. Really savor the treat and you will need much less of it to feel fulfilled.
Start Moving.
Even if your mobility is really limited, you can move something. If it hurts right now to move your legs, then move your arms. Get to the pool and do some water therapy.
Move around your house, move while you are watching television.
Baby steps will add up to great strides when you take the on a regular basis.
