Excuses, Excuses!
Do you notice how many excuses we make every day? Think about all the excuses you make for not accomplishing the things that could move you forward in your life.
“I was going to, but…” are probably the most used words in our vocabulary.
Imagine for a moment, that you are at the end of your life and are writing a letter to your friends and family.
Dear…..:
I was going to be the best writer, actor, salesperson, speaker, lawyer, mother, father, son, daughter, photographer, dancer etc. but….
Time got away, my kids were a challenge, I didn’t learn the language, I didn’t practice, I decided to watch TV, I decided to eat candy and carbs everyday, I decided to waste time, I decided to take a nap, I decided to go out with my friends, I decided not to exercise, I decided to waste my money on things that didn’t really matter. I was going to – but….
It’s time to be introduced to the person responsible for keeping you from your goals and dreams. The person who is keeping you from achieving a life filled with success. The person who is responsible for your excuses.
If you walk over to the closest mirror, you will have a face-to-face introduction. That’s right. YOU! are the one keeping you from all that is rightfully yours.
Think about it, at the end of it all will you be disappointed if you missed achieving your dreams and goals because of foolish excuses? Do you know that in the amount of time it takes to invent a good excuse, you could have created a plan for achieving a goal for success?
Someone once said that in our lives we can either have excuses or experiences. We can either have what we want or excuses why we don’t. Which would you want to have?
Many of us would like to blame our current situations on others - it is easier, safer and doesn’t hurt as much if we can place blame on someone other than ourselves. We cannot always control the situations we are given in life, but we can control how it affects us and the choices we make as a result of the experience. We become empowered when we stop making excuses for the lives we are living and choose to accept responsibility for creating the lives that we want.
We are all right now, living the life of our own choosing. We are creating our lives by the choices we make daily, hourly, minute by minute. Don’t let excuses get in the way of living a life of success and happiness.
